Connecting Flights

In a busy family of 8, Ruth has trouble being seen. But when Dad comes home early, all she wants to do is show him the bracelet she made. Shoved around by her older siblings, Ruth gets bumped, and the bracelet gets lost under a shoe rack, losing her opportunity. Another chance at dinner fails when Ruth makes a mess and Dad’s pager goes off, sending him back to work. Now with a timer on her head, Ruth tries to force the bracelet onto his jacket when it snaps. A hopeless little Ruth with no bracelet sees Dad playing with paper airplanes and realizes she has one more shot. She grabs her older brother, Dan’s, math test, and tries to make the perfect paper airplane. Just as Dad leaves, she tries fruitlessly to show him the plane, but he’s already gone. A heartbroken Ruth runs inside, where an understanding Dan attempts to cheer her up with a bracelet offer she can’t refuse.
