The Artist Foundry presents a special evening of 6 short films at Edison House featuring a screening of short films by Black, Indigenous, and POC Utah filmmakers and a moderated Q&A with musician, journalist, and programmer, Alex Vejar.

Confused Blood by James Cutler

A mixed Korean man wanders Seoul trying to make sense of his place in the world in a film that considers cultural identities and navigates an in-between space of documentary and narrative.

Lono and the Pig by Ka’eo Drumright

A young Hawaiian ventures into a dark and mysterious forest that forces him to confront his deepest fears.

Memory Now by Lana Ballenot

A young adopted woman determined to find out more about her birth parents goes to a “memory clinic” in order to medically mine her earliest memories.

Alex Vejar

Moderator Bio:

Alex Vejar is a cinephile, journalist, and musician from Los Angeles. His passion for storytelling began with songwriting and led him to a career in sports writing that eventually brought him to Utah in 2018. He started his film programming journey with the Utah Queer Film Festival in 2022. He currently runs the Fear No Film Festival and is an Associate Programmer of Comedy for the Salute Your Shorts Film Festival. He’s also worked on the programming committee of the Utah Film Center’s Artist Foundry, and screened for several other festivals, including Sundance.
