Eli (the young, melodramatic protagonist) meets his “situationship”, Julie, at the door to her apartment, begging her to take him back. After she turns him down, he ignores a phone call from his mom and storms home, only to be met with a house party held by his roommate Kai. Eli heads straight to his room, checks his phone (his mom sent a sweet follow-up text), and writes his feelings out, but has a sudden change of heart and starts flirting with partygoers. When that fails, he vents to Kai about his troubles with Julie, which prompts Kai to tell him that she’ll be coming to the party. Eli flees to his room for another journaling session, but it’s cut short when Julie shows up to the party. Two can play at that game—Eli, now rather drunk, loudly returns to the party. Julie’s not impressed, so he tries talking to her directly. On the way over, he bumps into a partygoer and starts a fight. He gets knocked down pretty hard, and Julie saw the whole thing, so he stumbles into the bathroom, throwing up and sobbing. Finally, he calls his mom back.
