When Valeria and Jaime Garcia move into her late father’s restaurant, Valeria plans an abortion, fearing her husband will force her to sell the place. Jaime, a cop, catches two homeless brothers stealing plantains but is swayed by their Mandoca recipe—known as the Zulian Pretzel—and recruits them. As the boys’ dish revives the restaurant, they find a home in Valeria, and the four begin to form the family she’s unsure she can build. But when Jaime discovers her abortion plans, he punishes the boys to spite her—nearly shattering their bond. With her support and the boys’ forgiveness, she watches Jaime become a father and steps into motherhood, turning their makeshift home into a real one.
