With themes of class-consciousness emerging throughout their catalog over the past year, It should be no surprise to fans of SLC nonbinary art-pop act Die Shiny that their latest music video tackles revolutionary rage with a sharp tongue and in stunning androgynous fashion.
“Embalmed” is an anti-capitalist anthem, darkly depicting the elite ruling class motive of profiting from every part of the human life cycle. With filmmaker Ryan Margetts’ vision, a passionate team consisting of several queer and allied creatives collaborated as volunteers to make this video.
Founded by nonbinary couple Callie Crofts and Zac Bryant, Die Shiny’s intensely personal world of work ranges from fragile to empowering, comedic to moving. From songwriting to social posts, Crofts weaves queer identity into the project’s entire brand with a raw and authentic voice. It’s no wonder that Q Salt Lake Magazine wrote “Fierce, unapologetic, and rooted in activism, Die Shiny is redefining what it means to be queer and loud”.
