Grounded 1920

Grounded

A depressed pre-transitioned trans boy takes a walk in a forest and finds a clearing. He prays to the earth to give him a new life. He lays down next to a bird skeleton and falls asleep. When he wakes up, he has become a human-bird hybrid, as well as a man as if assigned male at birth. He is delighted and starts flying. He meets a small bird who is amazed by his existence. The boy wants to test out his limits and fly as high as possible. The bird tries to dissuade him but he doesn’t listen. The boy flies higher and higher, and a storm rolls in. He’s unable to get away from the storm. He gets struck by lightning, falls, and dies. The boy wakes up and is a regular pre-transitioned human again. He realizes that although he doesn’t have his ideal body, he knows the limits and abilities of the one he has, and he can work with his body to create a life that’s worth living.
