Don’t Lose Your Heart is a story about the importance of keeping your dream alive in an ever-growing cynical world. Post-pandemic it almost feels like we have, and are continuing to live through an apocalypse, complete with the announcement of the existence of aliens and the growing struggle to afford…anything. But what if, instead of our societal collateral being defined by money and “what we do for a living,” it was defined by having hope, heart, and above all, a dream? Our story follows two ill-equipped dreamers and centers around the question: What happens to the human spirit when you tirelessly follow your dream or simply let your dream die? This apocalypse creates a sort of reckoning of the soul. In our world, having a dream is valuable; it makes you strong in ways you didn’t know and sets you apart from all the sell-outs of the world, or as we call them heart-pluckers. We made this project with UVU’s FEMME program. Working with so many up-and-coming women filmmakers was a phenomenal and inspiring experience. We hope that watching this film helps you to continue to follow your dream, it just might save your life one day. Oh, and watch out for the heart-pluckers of the world, they walk among us…
