Professional Development & WORKSHOPS

Join us on the first Thursday of each month to mix and mingle in the Artist Commons! This is an open gathering for filmmakers to gather in our Artist Commons and connect with Artist Foundry members as well as other artists to build community around film.

Join Artist Foundry at this year’s Utah Queer Film Festival! Some of the most exciting queer filmmaking is happening right here in Utah.

This year’s UQFF Local Shorts Showcase features eight films from Utah filmmakers, spanning experimental cinema, documentary, horror, romance, historical drama, animation, and post-apocalyptic storytelling. These stories are bold, deeply personal, and uniquely local—proving that queer voices are thriving in our own community.

The Artist Foundry presents I See the Demon directed by Jacob Lees Johnson. At her surprise birthday party, an emotionally vulnerable woman experiences disturbing ‘glitches’ that threaten to turn the best night of her life into a never-ending nightmare.

Your script is amazing! Everyone who reads it is excited for you, so now it is time to take it to the next step. However, whether it is your first project or your tenth, you must be able to get your story on the screen. How do you ensure this will happen, whether your budget is $200 or $2 million?

In this 90-minute workshop, we will review the key elements you need to identify in your script to ensure it can be produced and discuss the best ways to maximize your budget.
